Girl with melted face after acid attack is finally given hope
A young girl who was horrifically burned in an acid attack has been given a ray of hope.
Julie Kumari, 7, was caught in the crossfire during the attack at her home four years ago.
Her face appeared to melt when her father, Manish, threw the substance at her mother in a fit of jealous rage when she remarried, leaving Julie with burns on her face, arm, neck and chest.
However her mother, who earns £2 a day, was never able to earn enough money for surgery.
Julie’s mother, Rani Devi, 31, said: ‘It’s been devastating watching her suffer all these years. It used to hurt her to eat, talk and smile. Everything was a struggle for her. And it killed me inside that I couldn’t help her.’
Julie’s father had attempted to pour the acid on his ex-wife and her new husband, Heera Lal, but Julie was sleeping next to her and it landed on her as well as Heera.
