4 People Dead, 15 Injured & Six killed in Chittagong road accidents

Four people have died in road accidents in Bulgaria during the past 24 hours, the press centre of the Ministry of Interior announced.
A total of 15 road accidents occurred in the country, in which there were 15 people injured, while the lives of three others were in danger. In the capitol Sofia, a total of 132 minor and 3 serious road accidents occurred, in which 3 people were injured. -

Another Accident happened today

The accidents occurred in Chittagong's custom intersection area and the Koshaipara Pathanipul area on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway

Two people were killed and seven others injured after a human hauler overturned on a busy road in Chittagong City’s custom intersection area on Thursday morning.

“Two people died on the spot. Police rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital with the help of locals,” said Bandar police station’s OC Moinul Islam.

The deceased include the human hauler’s assistant, 17-year-old Md Rakib from Patuakhali, and 48-year-old Md Ekhlachur Rahaman Amjad, a worker at Merimo Ltd of Chittagong EPZ.

The accident took place around 8am, when the vehicle carrying over 12 people overturned on the road in front of Bandar Officer’s Colony, after the driver lost control over the steering wheel.

Locals said, a few years ago, a Chittagong Port Authority official’s wife was killed in a road accident at the same spot.

Chittagong City Corporation installed a speed breaker there at the time, but just removed it a few days ago.

In a separate incident, at least four people were killed and 10 others injured in a road collision among two pick-up vans and a bus on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway in Chandanaish upazila on Thursday evening.

Md Farhad, assistant superintendent of Highway Police of Comilla Zone, told the Dhaka Tribune: “Two pick-up vans raced each other on the highway when a Cox’s Bazar-bound Hanif bus rammed into them, leaving five people critically injured.”

The deceased are 45-year-old Farid Uddin, 17-year-old Nayon Tara, 65-year-old Hazera Khatun and 35-year-old Alamin, said police and local hospital sources.

“The accident took place at Koshaipara Pathanipul area on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway under Chandanaish upazila around 4:30pm.” he added.

“Locals rushed the victims to Dohazari Health Complex in critical condition,” said the health complex’s Dr Debasish Chowdhury, adding that other victims were shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Following the accident, traffic movement was halted for half an hour on the highway.
